“Ring” – A Poem by Andrew Williford

He just pushed his best friend off
a cliff. He pushed his best friend
off a cliff.
Crunch-crshzz
A gun to
a head,
a loud
crack,
eyes
roll back,
fall back-
ward
dead.
Creezzzhhhhh-crunch
The black spot in the corner
rocks back and forward,
sobbing,
bouncing like
giggling. White lines
crackling, black dots
pulsating, a figure
sprawled on the-

              “What are you watching?”
floor, blood pooling-
              Mrs. Kim jumps
at the sight of her colleague and
knife shimmering-
              click-click-
fingers twitching-
              clicks-
              “Nothing.”

              He stares
              at her, glares
              at her,
              and walks away.

Mrs. Kim turns back to the computer screen, dark,
              and clutches her chain-linked ring.
